Office Etiquette
Best Practices
- Be a positive agent for change. Share your learnings and successes; own solutions for improvement.
- Maintain a clean and efficient workspace so that we can be proud of our workplace.
- Respect your colleagues. Be considerate of those around you to allow everyone to work productively.
- Keep all appliances, including coffee makers, refrigerators and microwaves, in the common pantry areas.
- Minimize use of paper; purge files regularly in keeping with the company’s records management policy.
- Use each type of space the way it is intended.
Designated Space Best Practices
Individual Workspaces
- Maintain cleanliness in your work area; ensure a clean desk at the end of every day.
- In consideration of those around you, please consume meals in the cafeteria and pantry areas unless your team leader has approved eating at your desk. Place waste in pantry and copy area receptacles.
- Use headsets for music and phone calls to manage noise levels; speaker-phone capability is disabled at the desks. A huddle room, focus room or open collaboration area should be used for extended calls and conversations.
- Protect company-confidential information by securing computers and sensitive information.
- Be respectful of others around you in considering what you keep in your workspace; keep ledges and storage cabinet tops clear to maintain a neat environment so outdoor views are accessible to all.
- Feel free to use your workspace indicator to signal your availability to engage with others.
- Feel free to invite visitors to “hotel” in your workspace when you plan to be out for the day.
